Roy, our wolly malamute

Roy, long coated malamute

Roy (2003-2015)

Roy was our long coated malamute. Javier rescued him from the shelter in 2004, just the day before he was going to put to sleep. He was his first malamute and the one that made fall in love with the breed.

We don't know nothing about his origins or true age, but workers at the shelter thought he was about 1 year old, so we think he was born in 2003.

He was a great worker. Javier wanted to compete with him in mushing races in nordic class if available, but he needed to be a pedigreed dog. So he went to a breed recognition, and fortunately Barbara Brooks said he was a wolly malamute.

Besides of being such a hansome sable boy, he was so loving and affectionate that he prefered a caress to the food. But overall, as I said, he was a great worker, mostly in bikejoring and weight pull.

As you see, Roy was a fantastic buddy to live with... He didn't deserved to die in a shelter. If you want to save another dog life, please go to a shelter or even look into the internet. Javier runs this project in Spain to help rescuing nordic dogs: www.sos-nordicos.com. But then you may find any similar in your country. For instance:
